John Grayson has successfully represented major contractors, sub-contractors, sureties and owners in complex construction matters in both the private and public sectors. John's experience includes jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations involving public money projects such as schools and hospitals as well as major commercial and energy related projects from high-rise residential buildings to LNG storage facilities. 

Additionally, John's 28 years of experience includes representing small businesses, design professionals, physicians and attorneys as well as regional and national banks both as plaintiff and defendant in state and federal courts across the country. John's varied experience includes contract matters, personal injury/death cases, real estate, insurance and business disputes and class actions. 

John's work has been published in the Texas Bar Journal and the Construction Law Journal. He has been an invited speaker at the Center for International Legal Studies in Salzburg, Austria and recently was a presenter on the topic of EPC Construction Contracts at the International Oil & Gas Law, Contracts and Negotiations seminar in Houston, Texas. 

Named a 2011 SuperLawyer by Texas Monthly magazine for his work in Construction Litigation, John Grayson has held the highest possible Martindale Hubbell peer review rating of "AV" for legal ability and ethics for over 15 years. 

 

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Represented a consortium of 44 banks seeking recovery of financing provided for construction of a beachfront high-rise condominium that developed serious structural problems resulting in its demolition. 
  • Represented the general contractor in disputes with international suppliers and complex scheduling issues in connection with the expansion of a major city convention center. 
  • Represented a general contractor in a contract dispute arising from a new county health center. 
  • Represented a national electrical subcontractor in an airport expansion project concerning contract and payment litigation involving prevailing wage rates disputes. 
  • AAA Arbitration for a major tank construction contractor involving construction of a LNG storage facility in Louisiana. 
  • Represented a major homebuilder in multi-party litigation arising from the alleged ground contamination of a residential development. 
  • Represented and advised physicians practice groups in contractual matters.
