Professional Summary
Mr. Penny advises businesses across a range of industries, counseling clients through selection and formation of a business structure, negotiation of commercial and real estate transactions, business reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions. He advises entities of all sizes, from sole proprietorships to multi-million dollar corporations. He has, for example, advised clients in the sale of stock for a successful industrial equipment company, the purchase of several franchises from an international equipment dealer, and the preparation of collaborative agreements for small businesses in the alternative energy and tax consulting fields.
Additionally, Matthew handles employment-related issues facing businesses. He emphasizes implementing sound policies to proactively manage the employer-employee relationship. His experiences include addressing confidentiality and non-compete issues, drafting hiring and termination agreements, and advising on applicable state and federal employment laws.
As part of his practice, Mr. Penny authors articles regarding recent legal developments of concern to his clients. He is a member of the Texas C-Bar organization providing pro bono assistance to non-profit businesses, and the Texas Exes Alumni Association. Mr. Penny was named a Texas Rising Star for 2007.
